Help – Browsing tips

 

1.1 Browser version

 

1.1.1 Internet Explorer

This website is optimized for Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher. Please note that if you are using version 4.0, Service pack 1 de Microsoft is needed to view the images.

 

1.1.2 Netscape

Images are displayed differently with Netscape Navigator, making the site less user-friendly. Net-scape version 4.06 or higher is required to view the images. However, viewing is not possible with Netscape version 6.xx.

 

1.2 Java Virtual Machine or JVM

The viewing tool for digital documents requires the Java Virtual Machine component.

You must have the Sun Virtual Machine installed on your workstation.

 

1.2.1 Sun Virtual Machine

To find out if SVM is installed:

  • from your browser, go to Tool | Options …;
  • select the Advanced tab;
  • in the list, look for Java VM or Java (Sun).

 

1.2.2 To download Java Virtual Machine

1.3 Viewing digital documents

When you view a digital document, the icon appears.

For effective viewing, your computer must have:

  • an Intel chip (note that Macintosh computers do not have an Intel chip);
  • one of the following operating systems: Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, Mi-crosoft Windows NT 4.0 with service pack 3 or 4, Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 with ser-vice pack 3 or 4, Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows XP;
  • 16 Mo RAM;
  • 40 Mo free disk space.

 

1.4 Screen resolution

The minimum screen resolution is 800 X 600 pixels and 32 768 colours, but a resolution of 1024 X 728 pixels is recommended.
